When the last contractor packs up, a new or renovated home can look finished from the driveway. Up close, it isn't. Drywall dust is extremely fine, and it settles on every horizontal surface, gets pulled into the HVAC system, and works its way into cabinet interiors and window tracks.
A proper post-construction clean usually happens in two phases. The rough clean comes after the trades finish their heavy work: debris removal, a first pass on floors, and dust off the walls and ledges. The final clean comes right before the walkthrough or move-in and is where the detail work happens.
Here's what the final clean should cover: vent covers and return grilles; light fixtures and ceiling fan blades; tops of door frames, window frames, and trim; inside every cabinet and drawer; window glass, sills, and tracks, with stickers and residue removed; outlet covers and switch plates; appliances inside and out; and bathroom fixtures, with grout and caulk haze cleaned off where possible.
Floors come last. Vacuum first to pick up grit, so the mop doesn't drag it across new hardwood or LVP, and then damp-mop with a cleaner that's safe for the finish.
We handle post-construction cleaning for builders, remodelers, and homeowners from Lake Oconee to McDonough. Send us your square footage and walkthrough date, and we'll schedule the rough and final cleans around it.
